Mantasoa la terre de Jean Laborde

Principal conseiller de la reine Ranavalona I de 1837 à 1844, le français Jean Laborde est à l’origine de la construction du centre industriel de Mantasoa. Outre la fonderie, la verrerie et la savonnerie qu’il fit ériger, le parc de plaisance constitué d’un zoo qu’il dédia à la reine est un lieu atypique à visiter absolument. La maison de l’homme est aujourd’hui convertie en un musée retraçant l’histoire de Madagascar pendant la royauté. La tombe de Jean Laborde jouxtant le village est un vestige historique hors du commun.

Au détour du lac de Mantasoa

Le lac artificiel créé en 1936 occasionne les excursions plaisantes en famille. Les activités nautiques y sont légion. Une balade en vedette, une séance de pédalo ou quelques heures de ski nautique vous feront passer un week-end inoubliable dans un environnement pur. Expérimentez le voyage en « taxi-brousse » pour y accéder. Imprégnez-vous de ce moyen de transport pittoresque qui vous mènera aux portes du village. Si vous comptez louer une voiture, suivez la RN 2 jusqu’à Ambatoloana, prenez la bifurcation à droite pour parvenir à Mantasoa au bout de 5 kilomètres.
