Au Beau Séjour Hotel

Constructed in a botanical garden, Au Beau Séjour Hotel is a hotel establishment located a step away from the lagoon of Foulpointe. Located near a fine sandy beach, the hotel offers two types of very comfortable accommodations, such as an individual villa and two equipped bungalows. The Villa Carambole has a private terrace with a garden salon, a dining area as well as an equipped kitchen. With a capacity of two people, the studios Hibiscus and Ylang-Ylang have each a private terrace with a garden salon and an equipped kitchen available as an option. Au Beau Séjour Hotel also offers an option of guest rooms.

Génération Hotel

The Ixora Hotel is a star-categorized hotel establishment constructed in the bank of the Indian Ocean. In a park arranged close to white sandy beaches, the hotel puts at the disposal of its clientele eight permanent bungalows. Foulpointe ou Mahavelona, un patronyme historique

L’origine du nom Foulpointe remonterait au début du XXe siècle, quand le navire « Hopewell » du flibustier anglais Thomas White accosta tout près du lagon. Il créa à cet endroit le lieu baptisé « Hopewell Point ». Par la suite, l’endroit se transforma en « Hopeful Point », pour devenir Foulpointe à l’arrivée des Français. Selon les croyances locales, le nom de Mahavelona serait lié à une histoire miraculeuse. À une époque lointaine, bien avant la venue des Européens et des Merina dans la contrée, un mort retrouva la vie après avoir été baigné dans la petite rivière qui traverse le village. Abasourdie, la population décida d’appeler l’endroit Mahavelona littéralement « qui donne la vie ».

Une station balnéaire de premier choix

Foulpointe fait preuve d’un engouement énorme lors des périodes des grandes vacances, entre juillet et septembre. Une population de vacanciers provenant des quatre coins de l’île arrive sur place pour apprécier sa longue plage protégée des requins par une barrière de corail. Baignades, farniente, et chaises longues sont légion pour parfaire un séjour sur le célèbre lagon de Foulpointe. Le village compte également un patrimoine historique incontournable : le Manda, ou fort, érigé par le roi Radama Ier. C’est un impressionnant édifice en forme circulaire situé au milieu d’une végétation luxuriante constituée de ravenalas et de cocotiers, à 5 kilomètres au nord du village.
